Daniel Lee took the opportunity to rethink the way designers and brands can present their latest collection with the creation of Salon 01 (SS21) – which is a sensitive subject due to the times we are living in. The show took place at Sadler’s Wells with a local audience on October 9th, and a film showing the presentation debuted today.
Lee, who studied knitwear at Central Saint Martins, made sure textile had a very noticeable presence in the collection. Knitted dresses and trousers were key pieces that drew the small audience with bright and bold colors, ready for the spring seasons.
The project of the Salon 01 presentation continues with a collection of objects, including three books and vinyl, illustrating the creative process behind the collection. Vol. 1 shows Daniel´s inspiration for the Salon 01 collection. Vol. 2 was curated by German conceptual artist Rosemarie Trockel which includes collages, photographs, and short stories in which she studies the creative process behind the creation as well as the relationship to clothing. The final volume of the package includes pictures of the presentation, front- and backstage which were photographed by Tyrone Lebon. The vinyl plays spoken words by singer Neneh Cherry, which was also the soundtrack for the show. Watch the show here:
