In Diesel’s latest capsule collection, entitled Diesel x Diesel, the label celebrates its iconicity as well as unique history, while adapting it to today’s globalized and interconnected currents. Bringing back vintage pieces of the 1980s and updating them for the 2020s, Diesel reintroduces their timeless icons.

Renzo Rosso and creative director Glenn Martens have agreed that the collection will consist of only 24 well-selected pieces and will be of the highest quality. The sources of inspiration go back to college clothes, Route 66 and the essential styles of Diesel Work Wear. Martens, who is also known for his work with Y/Project, says about the collection: „When I arrived at Diesel, its founder Renzo Rosso was working on a unique, temporal take on fashion collaboration: past Diesel and present Diesel. He was studying how to fuse the label’s heritage within the context, and outlook, of the year 2021. Then and now, together. I thought, what better a place to begin? I embraced this vision and I am proud to have worked alongside him in amplifying what you see here, today. In some ways, it symbolizes the passing of the proverbial baton; we are celebrating Diesel’s background as we steer into a new era, and I am excited about the direction in which we are heading.”

The “Fake Smiles” campaign, created by Glenn Martens, is all about our constant pursuit of happiness and features people in everyday scenarios that have amplified joyful expressions. The surreal imagery reminds us of social media filters, combining today’s aesthetic with an 80’s nostalgia. Check for yourself:

All pieces of the Diesel x Diesel Capsule Collection will be available online from the 29th of March via Diesel.
