Holometabolism, also called complete metamorphosis occurs when an organism fully restructures itself to adapt to its changing needs and ensure survival.

When the caterpillar enters its cocoon, or Crysallis, it releases enzymes that dissolve most of its bodily tissues. The creature is able to turn into liquid in a pool of chaos. Solutio, one of alchemy’s essential operations is the process in which the individual surrenders oneself into a “masa confusa” or unkown substance in order to give place to a new stage of existance. Liquidity, of course, has an economic association, referring to assets being made liquid in times of crisis, or growth. To restructure how the world is imagined and how it operates today the change must come from within. A body breaks down and a new one forms from the same material.
