Today, Stone Island has announced a long-term relationship with New Balance. The approach is an “innovative data-driven design” that will shape their partnership.
Since Stone Island and New Balance, global leader of sportswear, can both be considered authoritative in culture and fashion, the collaboration is actually an obvious one. What started as a conversation about a footwear collaboration will now roll out in several waves over the next few years. “Our collaboration with Stone Island is not only rooted in performance innovation, but elevating our mutual values of premium craftsmanship and superior product quality,” said Chris Davis, Chief Marketing Officer at New Balance.
“There are only a limited number of brands that can be referred as iconic,“ so Carlo Rivetti, President and Creative Director at Stone Island. “They are so because of the consistency throughout their history, their strong vision and endless passion put into product making, always with the aim of serving the end users. With no concession to complacency. Stone Island and New Balance have shown that they are of this breed. To exchange concepts and ideas by opening doors to each other’s R&D teams, with the aim to create great sound product, is exciting and the greatest message we can jointly convey to our audiences.”
Not only are the two brands a wonderful fit because of their expertise and iconic brand status, but they are family-owned businesses that value tradition as much as research and functionality. They also maintain a tradition because back in 2013, they launched the Italy-only SI-577 sneaker together. Making this the second time New Balance and Stone Island are joining forces, we can’t help but expect great.
Their first product will be available later this year, stay tuned!
