Today, in celebration of the 200th year anniversary of the beloved Berlin concert hall at Gendarmenmarkt, a site-specific installation by German artist Bettina Pousttchi was unveiled on the main facade.
Entitled ‚Amplifier,‘ five photographically printed columns rise up through the six architectural columns already in place, giving an illusion of extension to the Schinkel building itself. Pousttchi’s oeuvre of work, which has been displayed worldwide as well as within and upon some of Berlin’s major landmarks, plays on perceptions of reality and interventions, which fits in perfectly to the 2020/21 Konzerthaus program’s theme ‚Nothing remains the same.‘
The artwork will remain on view to the public in Gendarmenmarkt through 30 June
