Are classic suits obsolete? The last year taught us to be more informal and relaxed in the way that we dress – even in a professional environment. But what does that mean for the typical two-piece tailoring?
Well, on the catwalks of the Milan menswear fashion week the suit is omnipresent. But not as we know it. And because classic doesn’t mean static Armani presented a redefinition of the beloved menswear staple.
Think wide-leg linen trousers worn with zip-up silk shirts and airy navy jackets. Or bermuda shorts with silk-lined bomber jackets, and tailored blazers with high-neck collars and slouchy trousers with satin belts and elegant silk blousons (with matching silk face masks, of course). The look of the collection, the colours and fabrics too, are undoubtedly classic. But look closer and you’ll notice an ease to the styling, a slightly mismatched sensibility, a softness and a subtly altered silhouette that is both familiar and refreshingly new.
The Spring Summer 2022 Collection effortlessly conveys an idea of elegant and timeless comfort that is in sync with the times that we are living in.
