Antwerp designer Dries van Noten just presented the new Spring/Summer 2022 collection, which is a literal explosion of bold colour and emotion.
Pieces with big colourful stains replicate being doused with pigment at the Holi festival in India and explore a new lithe and sculptural silhouette for this season. Fitted shapes emphasize the body and the outlines become more sculptural. The whole collection draws references to couture for example with a fitted skirt, in hand made smocking, opens in a wide volant. The smart layering of muslin in many different tones are a nod to the nineties, while the exaggerated balloon sleeves and dresses with much smocking, ruching and plisse, as well as the halter dresses and caftans in diaphanous shapes symbolize the intimacy of lingerie.
The entire collection is marked by powerful, strong, pigmented and saturated colors which, in the usual Van Noten manner, mark the start of the next summer season.
