Muhammad Ali, Mickey Rourke, Mike Tyson and the Klitschko-Brothers. Many international boxing-greats achieved long lasting fame during their careers, even outside professional sports. Someone who will soon be among those names, is Bernard Donfack.
Born in Cameroon, he came to Germany in 2002 and laid the foundation for his successful boxing career in 2005. Today, besides being a boxing pro, Donfack is also a personal trainer.
The days of boxing being considered a niche sport are long gone. It is not only physically very demanding, as it requires a number of skills, such as speed, agility, coordination and endurance, but also mentally challenging.
Captured by Berlin-based photographer Roman Goebel, who is known for his out-of-the-box approach, Donfack and Goebel convey this very spirit that is so indispensable in boxing.
