It was just another sunny day in Los Angeles but this afternoon, there was true magic happening: At the LA Albright Fashion Library, Lever Couture founder and designer Lessja Verlingieri presented her new collection in collaboration with Nicola Formichetti and Numéro Berlin.
Inspired by cloud formations, the new collection by Lever Couture captures voluminous forms, bright neons meeting metallic hues to adorn elaborate masks and headpieces. The models and creatives involved with this season’s show were a diverse group that came together to create an electric atmosphere. Slick Woods, Ashley Smith, Alyona Subbotina, and Sedona Legge took over the runway for this magical night. Artists MAAD & Niia Rocco also featured in the model line up. Model and DJ Shaun Ross mixed music curated by Nicola for the show. Marieme made an appearances in the audience alongside other notable fashion insiders who all turned out for the event.
Lessja Verlingieri, head of Lever Couture reflected that, “The creation of headpieces for the show were Nicolas’ idea, he has always pushed me creatively.” They first connected over a decade ago in Berlin, Nicola provided Lessja with her first opportunity in the industry, working to create pieces for Lady Gaga. “It was straight after my first ever show, I couldn’t believe the chance he took on me, when he offered to collaborate with Lever Couture on our first US presentation it felt really special.”
Lessja and her creative director Jenny Williams worked with Camera IQ to create an interactive AR experience featuring one of the masks from the collection. Lessja added, “We are really interested in digital fashion. It’s a way to connect with your audience. Especially when it comes to Couture, most of our pieces are one-of-a-kind and unique. Virtual reality allows everyone involved to take part and experience a part of you.” The pair are still stunned by the amount of support received from creatives and talent, who came together in difficult times to make the event happen.
