Peres Projects are opening their doors for Shit Mirror, George Rouy’s second solo exhibition at the gallery.

Roy was born in 1994 in Sittingbourne, UK. His canvases are filled with bodies, both alone and in groups. The figures show outstanding dynamics, exploring the boundaries of the human experience. Rough energy is transferred with tight or smooth brushstrokes complimenting each other in a pulsating rhythm. Balancing chaos and quiet, the viewer is led through the painting by swirls and strokes narrating the artist’s physicality.

The kinetic energy of the artist´ s own body marks the limits of the human body with a great focus on the senses.

Rouy has exhibited in a number of international group exhibitions including Collection as Poem in the Age of Ephemerality, X Museum, Beijing, curated by Poppy Dongxue Wu, Metamorphosis: Art in Europe Now, Fondation Cartier, Paris, Rested, Nicola Vassell Gallery, New York, Reconfigured, Timothy Taylor Gallery, New York, Salon de Peinture, Almine Rech Gallery, New York, No Man is an Island, Almine Rech Gallery, London and Crowd, Hannah Barry Gallery, London. His work was also recently exhibited in Milan in Les Citoyens – Guillermo Kuitca on the collection of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain at the Triennale Milano.
