WOOD WOOD SS23 SHOW
WOOD WOOD offers an escape to paradise. With Cecilie Liv Mortensen as Head of Design the collection presents an opportunity to imagine how space would look and feel in the present day. The inspiration comes from artistic communities who, throughout time, have found serenity by the water and a space to create works. Peggy Guggenheim provided a workspace for some of the 20th century’s greatest Expressionists. The clothing serves to extend the legacy of artists’ workwear, as carpenter pants with tool loops and painter’s shirts. The collection asks how artists would dress in their retreat by the water, from starting work in the early hours of daybreak to the soirées at the Palazzo at sunset. The garments are designed in colorful prints, combined with a casual look, meant to be used frequently and for different situations in life, adding a notion of freedom to act throughout the day. Functionality was not only in focus but most importantly, also implemented to give a comfortable feel. The womenswear includes bias-cut floral summer items, elevated two-piece tracksuits, heavy draped pieces with a T-shirt-like silhouette, a fluid tech-suit and playful dresses for summer nights. The men’s pieces seem strong, playful, all-over graphics on shirts and pants and easy layering sets with contemporary add-ons. The Scottish outerwear expert, Hancock, also applies his quality craftsmanship to the collection in the form of four coats: each with an experimental exterior, developed around typical silhouettes. For this season WOOD WOOD drew upon a sense of community, to cultivate a collaborative feeling and a harmonious relationship between artistry and nature.
