Founded in Switzerland in 1980, the luxury brand Hublot is defined by its innovation, which began with the highly original combination of gold and rubber. This Art of Fusion comes from the imagination of its visionary Chairman, Jean-Claude Biver, and has been driven forward by CEO Ricardo Guadalupe since 2012. The release of the iconic, multi-award-winning Big Bang in 2005 paved the way for new flagship collections Classic Fusion &Spirit of Big Bang with complications range from simple to very sophisticated, establishing their unique DNA and impressive growth.
Hublot explores The Shape in watchmaking. Currently including three shapes: a round watch, a barrel-shaped watch, and the Master Pieces, that have broken free from all conventions. Now Hublot decided to take a different direction and created a fourth shape: The Square. The chronograph has a column wheel visible at 6 O’clock, while its bicompax display distributes with a dial, to reveal its secret inner workings. The modular construction of the case is designed in line with Hublot’s DNA, with a central housing dressed with an upper and lower plate to allow a lot of combinations and transformations. Taking up the challenge with a guaranteed water resistance to 100 meters, although it’s much more complicated. The size of the case is also perfectly ergonomic, providing comfort on the wrist – very similar to the Big Bang.
The sandwich construction of its dial, gives the watch different levels of depth and a highly architectural feel. As with the Big Bang, the Square Bang Unico’s dial makes huge use of sapphire to give a clear view of the Unico movement. There are six screws on the bezel, placed at exactly the same ears from the Big Bang’s case, giving stability to the design while protecting the case. For the strap, in addition to the much appreciated One Click system of the Big Bang and its textured rubber, the two screws are fixed in the middle as an attachment. The Square Bang uses the same materials, including titanium, ceramic, King Gold and the All Black finish. A new strap decorated with chocolate squares further emphasises the Square Bang’s identity. Because of its interchangeable One-Click-system you can change the look of your watch in one click with an impressive range of Rubber, Alligator and soon soft-touch leather straps.
The limited version in all black proves its versatility and power. Only 250 pieces are made and it’s the only limited edition of the Square Bang Unico collection. Black is present on all the surfaces while polished or satin-finishes alternate to reveal subtle shades intended only for the eyes of the owner. Ceramic and titanium meet, harmonize and merge. A rare design for collectors who prefer to tread less beaten paths.
