Gucci unveils The Art of Silk, a project that celebrates the brand’s heritage in silk craftsmanship while exploring new artistic expressions. The campaign, starring actress Julia Garner and photographed by Steven Meisel, captures the fluid beauty of silk in motion, set against the backdrop of a city at night.
At its core is Gucci’s iconic Flora motif, a timeless symbol of elegance that continues to evolve for a modern audience. Whether worn as a scarf, draped effortlessly, or caught mid-motion, silk remains a defining element of Gucci’s legacy, embodying both sophistication and self-expression.

Keep it Gucci: The Art of Silk

Through Steven Meisel’s lens, The Art of Silk campaign tells a visual story of mystery, movement and allure. The nocturnal setting enhances the interplay of light and fabric, transforming silk into more than just material: it becomes an extension of the wearer’s personality. Gucci’s Flora motif takes center stage, reinforcing the House’s enduring spirit and timeless craftsmanship in every delicate fold and drape.

90 x 90 Project

As part of this celebration, Gucci introduces the 90 x 90 Project, a creative initiative where nine international artists reimagine five signature scarf themes: Flora, fauna, nautical, equestrian, and the GG Monogram. The name reflects the classic 90 cm x 90 cm silk twill scarf, which serves as both a fashion piece and an artistic canvas. The participating artists, including Robert Barry, Everett Glenn, and Sara Leghissa, bring unique perspectives that blur the lines between fashion, fine art, and pop culture.

Complementing this initiative, Gucci collaborates with Assouline to release ‘Gucci: The Art of Silk’, the first book to explore the rich history and craftsmanship of Gucci’s silk scarves. With exclusive access to the Gucci Archive, the book delves into the cultural significance of these iconic pieces, highlighting their role in shaping the House’s legacy.

AN ICON REBORN: THE NEW GUCCI BLONDIE BAG CAMPAIGN https://www.numeroberlin.de/2024/09/an-icon-reborn-the-new-gucci-blondie-bag-campaign/ Thu, 26 Sep 2024 15:30:26 +0000 https://www.numeroberlin.de/?p=51752 Under the theme “We Will Always Have London”, Gucci´s new campaign, led by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, showcases the iconic Gucci Blondie bag alongside the Cruise 2025 Collection. Cultural icon Debbie Harry and performing artist Kelsey Lu serve as the faces of Gucci’s vision, which seamlessly blends past and future.

Artistry and romance dominate the latest Gucci campaign. Set against various London backdrops, award-winning photographer and filmmaker Nan Goldin captures Debbie Harry and Kelsey Lu in an intimate, atmospheric London night. Whether in an iconic London cab or a moody hotel room, Goldin and De Sarno harmonize their distinctive visions, encapsulating the creative essence of Gucci.
„We Will Always Have London“ is defined by Goldin´s extraordinary documentary style, which sets the tone for the entire campaign. The city, renowned as a hub for music, art, and culture, serves as the foundation of the creative vision. It also nods to Gucci´s own history, as the brand´s founder, Guccio Gucci, once worked as a liftboy at The Savoy Hotel in London.
Though Debbie Harry and Kelsey Lu represent distinct generations, it is precisely this contrast that unites the campaign. Gucci, long celebrated for its fusion of past and future, finds perfect symbolism in these two figures. They embody the timeless appeal of the Gucci Blondie bag, a piece that has been continuously reimagined since its debut.

At the heart of the campaign is the Gucci Blondie bag, a staple of the House since its introduction in the early 1970s. The reinterpretation retains the heritage codes of the brand while offering a fresh, modern take. Central to the bag´s design are the two interlocking Gs, positioned face-to-face, which serve as a tribute to the brand´s father. Combined with the bag´s distinctive silhouette, these elements have made the Gucci Blondie a signature piece, reflecting the boldness of the 1970s.
Crafted from refined leather and showcasing exceptional artisanal craftsmanship, the new collection emphasizes quality, durability and sophistication. Each piece varies subtley in appearance, with specific oil treatments ensuring extraordinary softness and a natural shine.

Available in mini, small, medium and maxi sizes, the new Gucci Blondie bag collection offers a range of materials and colors to suit diverse tastes. A detachable shoulder strap on each design provides versatile styling options for any occasion. Wether featuring the leather logo or the enameled brass version, the Gucci Blondie bag stands as a testament to the brand´s heritage and commitment craftsmanship.

THE NEW GUCCI FALL-WINTER 2024 CAMPAIGN: BETWEEN PERSONALITIES AND DESIGN https://www.numeroberlin.de/2024/08/the-new-gucci-fall-winter-2024-campaign-between-personalities-and-design/ Thu, 15 Aug 2024 15:00:02 +0000 https://www.numeroberlin.de/?p=50369 Sabato De Sarno, the creative director of Gucci, carries the Fall-Winter 2024 women’s campaign into a more intimate setting, where everything depends on the looks and expressions of the main characters.

Each of the Gucci campaign protagonists brings something of herself to the looks. Their gestures and expressions enhance De Sarno‘s vision for the women’s wardrobe.
The Fall-Winter 2024 collection itself is a landscape of harmonious contrasts: wool coats and slip dresses adorned with delicate embroidery, soft, earthy tones, and unexpected bursts of color. Each look plays with proportions and clean-cut silhouettes.

The exploration of the House’s heritage continues in accessories. Pieces are inspired by narrative, recalling the atmosphere in the era of its origins. The new Gucci B bag takes center stage in the Fall-Winter campaign. With a relaxed and oversized silhouette and medium-length shoulder strap with double snap hook hardware, this style evokes the aesthetic of a series of archival predecessors, first seen in an artisan’s notebook from as early as the mid-1950s.

The new top-handled GG Milano handbag by Sabato De Sarno is also featured in the campaign. The new bag celebrates Milan for its art, fashion, and design. The style of the back is also a personal reflection on the new chapter in De Sarno’s life, his arrival in Milan. The city is a source of everlasting inspiration for the Creative Director which reflects in his narrative for the House.

The timeless Gucci Jackie in new color iterations continues to explore the House’s heritage. And the half-moon bag grounds the Creative Director’s contemporary vision of day-to-night elegance.
