WEEKEND MUSIC PT. 27: ‘SILICIA’ (POST HOC)

“After lightning comes thunder, and what remains is the servitude to its memory.”

Silicia used to exist as an anonymous SoundCloud profile only. Now the Berlin based label Post Hoc debuts ‘Silicia‘, a self-titled 9 track album on a limited edition vinyl run, due to be released on the 17th of March 2023.
‘Silicia‘ is the result of a sporadic creative process, beginning in the cold endless winter of Berlin in 2018. In an idiosyncratic blend of shoegaze and power electronics, a search for warmth begins:

“Much like  the odyssey that led to its completion, its core intent is somewhat opaque, fundamentally characterized by  the almost forcible urge for catharsis. The creative process, having been much of an introspective  experience, is meant not to replicate a journey but to evoke the subjects’ own.”

The album can be listened to here while the vinyl and digital album can be pre-ordered here.

Silicia is a project by Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist Valentin Masé, having performed in New York City, Riga, London, Amsterdam, and Berlin amongst others, ranging throughout various projects of touriszt, S.P.T., and World Experience Center.

All tracks are written and produced by Valentin Masé. Vocals and additional FX by Quinn Nealy on: “Premium Romance”, “Silver Lure”, “Forever Solstice”, “Rotten Sun”. Additional drums on “Premium Romance” by Janek van Laak. Vocals on “Silk Trance” by Ebna Harva.
