Fotografiska Berlin presents “melanie bonajo: When the Body Says Yes” from December 15, 2023, to March 2, 2024. Dutch artist melanie bonajo explores the role of touch in combating modern loneliness through an immersive video installation. Collaborating with an international, genderqueer group, the exhibition becomes a pleasure-positive camp, challenging societal norms and celebrating skinship. Bonajo’s scenography creates a soft refuge, inviting visitors to reflect on the meaning of touch in their own lives. The installation is a sensual escape, challenging the fatigue of virtual interactions and sponsored by consent and personal oxytocin. Curated by Marina Paulenka, the presentation follows bonajo’s representation of the Netherlands at the 59th Venice Biennale.
