WEEKEND MUSIC PT. 49: CENTRAL CEE “CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS”

Record-breaking British rapper Central Cee has just released his debut album “Can’t Rush Greatness”

Central Cee’s brand-new album not only features numerous collaborations but also offers glimpses into his personal life. For instance, in the track “Now We’re Strangers”, he reveals a more vulnerable side of himself. The song “CRG” also takes a personal turn, as he teams up with British rapper Dave to explore the theme of gratitude and reflect on his success.

And that success is significant: He was named to XXL’s Freshman Class by the American hip-hop magazine, his track “Sprinter” was Spotify’s most-streamed UK single in 2023, and his other releases have consistently climbed the charts. His rapidly growing fame is no coincidence, as Central Cee worked together for this album with many representatives of the international rap scene. Among them are Puerto Rican Young Miko, US-American 21 Savage, and Lil Durk from Chicago. Musical collaborations aren’t anything new for him, since his friend and German musician Luciano visited him on stage at the 6PM-festival last year in Berlin and previous singles were the outcome of creative joint efforts with other artists.

Released under Sony Music, “Can’t Rush Greatness” dropped on January 24th via Columbia Records and has firmly placed British rap in the spotlight.
