AN EXHIBITION BY OLIVIER ZAHM AND ANDRÉ SARAIVA
NUITS, NIGHTS, NÄCHTE: An Exhibition by Olivier Zahm and André Saraiva
Numéro Berlin introduces a special exhibition bringing together two influential figures in art, fashion, and nightlife: Olivier Zahm and André Saraiva. The presentation unfolds as an exchange between two distinct creative approaches, merging photography with artistic reinterpretation.
Olivier Zahm, founder of Purple Magazine, presents a selection of images created over the past 30 years. His photographs offer candid insights into moments that feel immediate and unrestrained – capturing the atmosphere of underground culture, personal encounters, and the intensity of lived experience. Each image acts as a fragment of a larger narrative shaped by spontaneity and a sense of liberation.
Building on this foundation, André Saraiva, artist and founder of Hôtel Amour, engages directly with Zahm’s work. By drawing and painting over the photographs, he introduces his own visual motifs, shifting their tone and context. His interventions blur the line between documentation and creation, transforming the original images into something layered and unexpected.
The exhibition becomes a space where past and present intersect, and where two artistic voices merge into a shared expression. Through this process, the works move beyond their original form, opening up new perspectives on collaboration, authorship, and visual storytelling. Supported by Parajumpers, the project reflects an ongoing dialogue that connects different creative worlds and generations.
The exhibition is on view until June 11 at @SCHLACHTER_151, Wilmersdorfer Str. 151, 10585 Berlin.
