Pocket Rocket: Why the LiveWire S4 Honcho Is Simply Good Fun

Pocket Rocket: Why the LiveWire S4 Honcho Is Simply Good Fun

An organic farm near Versailles, surrounded by sprawling fields and hay bales: for the European premiere of the S4 Honcho, LiveWire chose La Ferme du Prieuré as the setting. Instead of hitting the asphalt, the first ride outside Paris took us through forests, freshly mown meadows and farmland – a location that perfectly underlines the playful character of the new electric bike.

With the S4 Honcho, LiveWire is expanding its portfolio with a compact model for the A1 segment, which can be ridden with an A1 motorcycle licence or a B196 extension. The bike is aimed at urban riders looking for an alternative for getting around town and covering short distances beyond the city.

Visually, the minimalist design is defined by its exposed steel-tube frame. With a peak output of just under 11 kW (15 hp), the model makes full use of the power limit for the 125cc class. Depending on the version, it weighs between 114 and 118 kilograms – scooter-like in its lightness.

Everyday practicality with removable batteries

One of the bike’s key features is its two batteries mounted beneath the seat, offering a total usable capacity of 3.48 kWh. They can be removed and charged from a conventional household outlet – an ideal solution for riders without their own garage or a long charging cable running down from a balcony. According to the manufacturer, charging from 20 to 80 percent takes two hours.

The range is up to 86 kilometres according to the WMTC test cycle. There is also almost eight litres of storage space beneath the seat, enough for smaller items such as a backpack or picnic blanket.

The trip to Versailles showed just how much fun uncomplicated micromobility can be. The Trail model is available now, while the road-ready Street version launches at the end of October.
