We all have them, we all need them, and a brand has succeeded in injecting new life into this simple everyday garment: Happy Socks goes Berlin Fashion Week.
The brand is typically renowned for its colorful socks with prints, but this time, everything takes a different turn. Under the theme “Solids,” the Swedish sock giant is unveiling a collection comprising plain solid-colored models. No one really knew what to anticipate from the Happy Socks Show. Yet, they delivered beyond expectations. It was vibrant, diverse, and exuded positive vibes. With a 21-member cast, featuring artists, acrobats, dancers, and members of the Berlin Happy Socks community, the brand captivated the audience with an extraordinary performance in an abandoned car workshop in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The industrial vibes of the venue provided an ideal stage for the performers, and the modern pop music instantly evoked a “ready to party” atmosphere among the guests, which undoubtedly transitioned into action at the after-show party. Berlin stylist Theresa Gross distinguishes herself through her unique blend of street style, authenticity, and individuality, prioritizing these over trends. These qualities seamlessly resonate with Happy Socks’ mission, which aims to inspire genuine self-expression through color, creativity, and enjoyment.
Archetypes such as a punk rocker, the outdoor freak, the glam girl and even a happy socks bride were brought to life with her styling, using mainly second hand, vintage and rented looks.
The entire concept of the show, as described by Happy Socks, revolves around the idea that, whether due to norms, societies, cultures, or old rules, people often feel compelled to conceal their true colors (in this case, socks). The Scandinavian brand aims to encourage everyone to roll up their pants and reveal their true selves. Overall, it was a successful event that was about much more than just plain-colored socks.
