TO WATCH: “DO NOT EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM THE END OF THE WORLD” BY RADU JUDE

Reel Scandals: An anarchic journey through 21st Century absurdities

MUBI, the worldwide film distribution and streaming platform known for its handpicked film selections, is showcasing the newest creation from award-winning Romanian Director Radu Jude (“Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn,” “Uppercase Print”) titled “Do not Expect Too Much from the End of the World.” Premiering at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2023, where it received the prestigious “Special Jury Award”, hailed by Vanity Fair, the New York Magazine, and Sight & Sound as one of the standout films of 2023,

“Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World” humorously and satirically captures the essence of modern life.

Radu Jude infuses his trademark anarchic energy into the film, blending elements of narrative cinema, essays, and political commentary to deliver a sharply witty examination of contemporary society.

Angela (played by Ilinca Manolache), a production assistant who’s overworked and underpaid, gets assigned to film a workplace safety video for a big multinational company in Bucharest. But things take a twist when one of the people she interviews says something scandalous, forcing Angela to come up with a new story on the spot. With cameos from Nina Hoss, Uwe Boll, and Angela’s TikTok persona Bobiță, Radu Jude’s satirical comedy takes us on a wild ride through the absurd and humiliating aspects of modern-day life.

“Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World” is available on MUBI from May 3rd.
