TO WATCH: “THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE” BY MONA FASTVOLD

THE TRUE STORY OF THE FOUNDER OF THE SHAKERS

The story of Ann Lee is based on the life of the founder of the Shaker religious movement. Amanda Seyfried stars as a strong-willed prophet, unswervingly following her calling to preach and spread her faith. It is a tale of resilience and profound devotion, brought to life by striking hymns and rhythmic chanting.

The Shaker hymns featured in the film are historically grounded and have been reinterpreted by Academy Award-winning composer Daniel Blumberg. They serve as a recurring motif throughout the narrative, underscoring the hardships faced by the burgeoning community.

The production captivates with impressive visuals, showcasing an aesthetic that at times evokes theatrical stage structures. The screenplay was co-written by Mona Fastvold and Brady Corbet, the creative duo behind the script for the Oscar-winning film ‘The Brutalist’.

The Movie will be released to German Cinema on the 12th of March.
