Built to Belong navigates the questions that inevitably arise through the process of creating: why we make things, where that instinct comes from and how we find a space for ourselves within it. With the collection, designer and stylist Elisabeth Kiko explores the idea of building your own belonging rather than necessarily finding somewhere you already belong. Approaching clothing as a form of emotional architecture, Kiko translates the space between intimacy and exposure, body and surroundings, into her own distinct design language.

Unexpected proportions, contrasting textures and a considered use of colour create a playful tension between elegance and structure, balancing architectural precision with softer, more intuitive forms. Rooted in architecture, personal memories and a visual language developed over time, the garments become an expression of both protection and individuality.

Presented in July 2026 during Berlin Fashion Week, Built to Belong extended into a live performance and spatial installation, inviting people to enter and explore the world created through the collection. Visible through the windows like a moving display, the performance brought garments, bodies and architecture into conversation. Sculptural set elements, moving reflections and a soundscape unfolding through different emotional states created an experience in which individual elements gradually became something shared. Ultimately, Built to Belong is a personal homage to the act of creating it self to the intimacy and trust involved in putting something into the world, and the physical and emotional spaces we build along the way.
