INTRODUCING “CURIOUS MONIKA”: A MODERN TWIST ON 70S SWEDISH HERITAGE

The special collaboration “Nuda for Tiger” brings together Nuda and Tiger of Sweden, both connected by their Swedish DNA and free spirit. The collection “Curious Monika”, a nostalgic nod to the 70s, is inspired by the cult movie Fäbodjäntan (Come and blow the horn), set in rural Dalarna, Sweden. This film epitomizes the era of “Swedish sin” in the 70s and reflects the cultural shift towards a more liberal attitude towards sexuality.

“Curious Monika” captures the essence of the 70s counterculture and free love, with brown leather pants and grass-stained jeans embodying the rebellious spirit of the time. The characters in Fäbodjäntan, set amidst farm hills, wooden houses and on rag rugs with lace trimmings, embody the mixture of tradition and defiance of the folk movement of the 70s.

“Curious Monika” reinterprets traditional Swedish costumes with a modern twist. The collection, developed in collaboration with weaver Britt-Marie from Värmland, uses original techniques and patterns for a unique composition.

FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2024, CONVERSE CONS AND CARHARTT WIP CONTINUE THEIR COLLABORATION WITH TWO NEW SKATE PERFORMANCE DESIGNS

The collection includes the One Star Academy Pro and the Chuck Taylor All Star Pro, both of which pay homage to the skate shoes and colorways of the 90s. Both models feature suede uppers in shades of brown, beige and cream, inspired by Carhartt WIP’s archive colors. A high rubber overlay on the sole ensures durability, while triple side seams are reminiscent of Carhartt WIP’s signature jackets and work pants.

The Chuck Taylor All Star Pro Hi is specifically designed for skateboarding and features elastic tongue straps, CX foam insoles and a CONS Traction Rubber sole for grip and control. The One Star Academy Pro is reminiscent of its predecessor from the 90s, The Academy, and offers improved board feel and cushioning thanks to the CX foam.
The partnership between Converse CONS and Carhartt WIP, which began in 2017, combines functionality and performance with the unique design of both brands. So far, silhouettes such as the One Star and Fastbreak Pro have been reinterpreted.

DAMIEN HIRST’S EXHIBITION “THE WEIGHT OF THINGS” IS ON SHOW AT THE MUSEUM OF URBAN AND CONTEMPORARY ART (MUCA) WITH MORE THAN 40 WORKS, SOME OF WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE

The major solo exhibition includes installations, sculptures and paintings. The museum also presents Herst’s most iconic series, such as Natural History (formaldehyde sculptures), Spin Paintings, Medicine Cabinets, Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable and Cherry Blossoms.

Even before completing his studies at Goldsmiths College, in July 1988, Hirst curated the exhibition Freeze, which featured, among others, his own installations. It was the starting point for a new wave of Young British Artists reinventing contemporary art.

The exhibition runs until November 2024.

BOUNDARY-PUSHING BERLIN ART PROJECT TRAUMA PRESENTS A PERFORMANCE DURING ART BASEL

On June 12th 2024 from 9pm, TRAUMA unveils a seminal performance piece, showcasing an ongoing, interdisciplinary creative exchange between Swedish artist Anna Uddenberg and American musician Eartheater at Kaserne Basel.

Eartheater’s live performances employ tension and improvisation to render her intricate compositions into indelible corporeal manifestations. Now she collaborates with Anna Uddenberg, who is known for her sculptures of hyper-sexualized faceless female dummies adorned in futuristic, utilitarian luxury apparel and flaunting synthetic hair and acrylic nails. Frozen in poses that push “sexy” to the brink of absurdity, these highly Instagrammable figures hold up a mirror to contemporary culture’s obsession with self-styling and being locked in a mode of “watch[ing] ourselves as someone else,”.

Directed by Daniel Sannwald, this collaboration showcases a fusion of contemporary art, fashion, and music, challenging societal norms and perceptions.

The Ordinary has stood for clinical formulations with integrity since 2016. They are now introducing the Squalane + Amino Acids Lip Balm, which will be available on June 20th. The formula is made of biomimetic amino acids that help provide long-lasting hydration, and squalane that provides suppleness and helps hydrate lips by supporting their moisture barrier and reducing water loss. The more delicate skin of the lips loses water faster than the skin of the face, so it is important to lock in moisture.
