TO WATCH: “CUCKOO” BY TILMAN SINGER

“Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer impresses alongside a brilliant and terrifying Dan Stevens.

Tilman Singer follows up his directorial debut “LUZ” with yet another captivating horror trip. “Cuckoo” carries us through a knotty story, etangled in surprising twists. The plot is harmoniously complemented by it’s outstanding visuals which are dripping in atmosphere. Singer’s directing is backed up by masterful performances from both Schafer and Stevens, who kept us on the edge of our seats.

We follow a 17-year-old Gretchen as she is forced to leave her American home to move in with her father, who is relocating to a resort in the German Alps to live with his new family. Upon her arrival, she is greeted by Mr. König. Her father’s boss, who has a suspicious interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister Alma. The deceptively tranquil holiday paradise seems to be hiding something deeply sinister.

Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and disturbing visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also affects her own family.

Bringing forward a thrilling story supported by an excellent cast, Singer further solidifies his place in the industry with his second film “Cuckoo”. Having it’s world premiere at the Berlinale and being the winner of several awards, it proves to be an exceptionally worthy watch.
