TO WATCH: “THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER” BY KRISTEN STEWART

“THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER”
– The story of the author Lidia Yuknavitch

The Chronology of Water is the film adaptation of the memoirs of the same name by Lidia Yuknavitch. The book tells the relentless life story of the author. Through a swimming scholarship she initially manages to move out of her family home and away from her abusive father.

After she loses this scholarship due to drug and alcohol problems however a new opportunity opens up for her. She receives the chance to write a book with author Ken Kesey who recognizes her extraordinary talent.

The film embodies the excess that runs like a common thread through Lidia’s life, painting a picture of trauma, sexuality and artistic inspiration. Despite the oppressive atmosphere that permeates the work there are recurring bright moments of hope.

With her directorial debut Kristen Stewart delivers a visually stunning arthouse movie. The scenery is powerfully captured and the dense atmosphere builds up consistently throughout the entire runtime.

The film opens in German cinemas on March 5.
