WEEKEND MUSIC TIP PT. 89 – COLE KNIGHT
From a background in computer science to launching her brand, Knightclub, at Art Basel,…
Berlin-based DJ PARAMIDA released her new EP Devil’s Destination on May 9 via her own label, Love on the Rocks.
Although she’s already been a fixture in the underground scene, this release marks a bold statement, offering a layered approach to her music. PARAMIDA has quietly built a reputation for blending elements of house, trance, and early progressive sounds – without leaning into nostalgia or fleeting trends. This new EP is a confident showcase: rhythm-driven, melodic, and precise.
Through this project, the artist moves from ’90s rave music to contemporary house. The title track opens with a heavy, enveloping bassline borrowed from a Musique de Marque production, progressing into a tight blend of dubby bleeps, vocal fragments, and percussive detail. It’s a track built on motion – less about climax than about tension and release. The closing track, Sayonara, steps away from the dancefloor entirely. Beatless and ambient, it’s composed of scattered vocal samples, reverbed pads, and a low-slung bassline: a brief, weightless coda that hints at PARAMIDA’s broader musical references.
For listeners unfamiliar with her work, the EP offers a clear entry point into a sound shaped more by feeling than by genre. It’s electronic music designed for movement – but also for listening.
Available since May 9 via Love on the Rocks and select digital platforms.
