ON TOUR WITH ENNIO
30 April 2026, Munich
10:07
Morning.
I wake up in my bed on the tour bus. We drove through the night from Zurich to Munich. We’ve been on tour for two weeks now and coming back to my own city does feel kinda special.
Every day on tour is so intense and especially the fact you’re constantly waking up somewhere unfamiliar. Being back in Munich in the middle of it all of that feels like a small oasis. A breather.
My alarm goes off at 10:07. I always set my alarms to weird times. All my friends make fun of me for it.
I actually wrote about coming back to Munich in Isar:
“Ich komm’ gleich am Hauptbahnhof hier an.
Steig’ ins Taxi, treffen uns am Strand.
Die Sonne strahlt, du glitzerst wunderschön.
Die Wahrheit ist, du wirst mir immer fehl’n.”
(A return to Munich: arriving at the central station, meeting by the river, with a sense of longing running underneath it all.)
10:30
Luckily, Zenith has a big backstage. Quick breakfast.
11:30
Freshly showered, I get into a taxi with my tour manager Elly. And thanks to her – we be on time.
We drive into the city centre. It feels kind of strange… usually I stay at the venue all day when we have a show.
12:08
We arrive at the FC Bayern Munich store. As I get to present the new FCB home jersey for the upcoming season. It’s a huge honour for me. I
genuinely have loved this club for as long as I can remember.
I take a lot of photos with people. They then tell me they’re coming to the show later. Now I’m really starting to get excited for tonight.
14:34
I’m thinking about my next album.
Again no streaming platforms?
Before I started making music in German, I made music in English. I wrote and produced the songs myself in my childhood bedroom and even did the marketing myself. That real DIY approach has always been my thing.
Somehow, after all these years, I want to find my way back to that old way of working. I always had so much fun doing everything everything myself…
I think I might write and produce the next album completely on my own again.
We’ll see.
16:00
Soundcheck.
The stage is vibrating because of the subwoofers that are built underneath it. I check the acoustic guitar, electric guitar and piano. Everything works.
I’m really nervous. Playing a show in my hometown is always special because so many of my friends and family are here. It’s beautiful, but somehow it also puts more pressure on me. I really want to give them an especially great show.
The empty Zenith looks insanely huge. It also makes me proud to stand on a stage in my own city where I’ve seen so many legendary artists play myself.
20:01
Cordoba78 open the night.
I’m standing upstairs on the veranda watching their show. Zenith is still filling up, but so many people are already dancing and singing.
Last year, I started my own label, Orgel Enterprise. Cordoba78 are also part of our small label family.
I’m proud.
I’m nervous.
21:02
Finally, the show starts.
The crowd goes crazy. I run onto the stage (in my Timberlands indeed) and scream into the microphone.
And then we play Kippe.
It’s always one of the most emotional moments of the show for me. Everyone takes out their lights. I can even see a few actual lighters between all the phones.
All those people are singing my song.
“Ich will doch nur ein bisschen bleiben
Und ich weiß nicht, ob es reicht, hab’n noch eine Kippe Zeit
Augen viel zu rot, ich muss heim
Geh’ ich noch mit dir oder allein?
Wir hab’n noch eine Kippe Zeit
Geh’ ich noch mit dir oder allein?”
(A last cigarette becomes a way of stretching out the moment just a little longer – caught between staying together and going home alone.)
22:52
Completely drenched in sweat, I stumble off stage.
Best show of the tour. Tonight I get to sleep in my own bed.
I’m done.
I’m happy.
